Just want to remind everyone that even when I'm not on here, I'm always active on Tumblr!

Now to start catching up from the months I didn't post.

Some recent outfits! I haven't been keeping up with photos of my outfits very recently, I'm afraid (the photos in this posts are from a few months ago). I've been playing around with dolly kei more lately. I'll have to put the outfits back on sometime.
Next post will be slightly less of my face XDSorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-12413011883443479542011-10-10T11:33:00.000-07:002011-10-10T11:36:40.033-07:00Tokyo Rebel visitIt's been a long time.
I don't think I've spoken much about it on this blog, but I have fibromyalgia. It mostly manifests in my back causing me to hardly be able to do anything but sit on the couch. It effects my life to the point where I really don't have one. I can't work or even do hobbies or chores inside the house. This causes me to become very depressed often and when that occurs, I have a difficult time keeping up with things like this blog. I often find more comfort in reading the blogs of others than writing my own.
So if I disappear for a long time again, that's probably why.

Saturday was my first trip to Tokyo Rebel! Despite living in New York, I rarely go to NYC mostly due to my inability to walk long distances. Not only that but I can't go outdoors during Summer so that cuts out a large chunk of the year (and Lolita Day, unfortunately).
I finally was able to prepare myself for the long trek out to Tokyo Rebel!

Outside the shop.

My major issue with the store is it's location. It's not near anything else in the city that I want to visit, so it's very inconvenient to reach. Even once I've made the 2 hour trip to the city, it's still a long journey to reach this shop. It's also frustrating that they are not open on Sundays. Many of my friends only get off work on Sundays and I would have preferred to plan my trip on a day they could come too.
The shop looks just like the photos they post on their blog, so I did not take any. The shop is the size of a bed room, but can still comfortably fit around 10 people inside (Really. We tried it) Even though the stock was not huge (it actually seemed like around the same amount of items that h.Naoto bring to convention dealer rooms), there were enough brands to choose from so that any lolita should find something she likes. The prices are average for lolita, with Putumayo being the least expensive brand. Since Putu is my favorite brand, I actually found quite alot of things I wanted. I finally settled on an OP.

My new Putumayo OP.

I was given my choice of a free poster at the check out. The posters were blown up versions of recent GLB covers. I chose the cover of #39 because the girl in blue looks like Belarus from Hetalia :)
The shop staff was very friendly and gave the place a very comfortable atmosphere. The were also comfy chairs for those who need to rest after the long walk to the shop.
Overall, I'm glad I went and once you are there, it's a great place to buy your lolita. They even let you try on the clothes, which ofcourse you can't do online. However, I don't anticipate making another trip there. I just lack the stamina for it. If you are used to walking, though, you should visit if you are in NYC.

I will also use this post to show off my new Baby Oz JSK! I got it off Mbok for much less than it was new. I've loved this dress since it was new in 2007 when I first got into lolita! I'm so excited to own a dress I've imagined for so long.

I have some more posts planned and I'm back in gear! I hope you'll stick around. Thank you so much to my followers! <3 I love you all! I've installed Discuss for the comments so I will be able to reply to you more easily!Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-21537164465426260322011-07-14T14:18:00.000-07:002011-07-14T14:56:05.917-07:00Kawaii Goods LP reviewI got a Wuzzles book from the used bookstore.

It's never been colored in <3 I want a Moosel plush so bad. The only Wuzzles stuff I ever find in the shops is books...

I ordered a Kawaii Goods lucky pack!

I ordered the $10 fairy kei LP.

Pictured on my new MLP cel because I can <3

I received:
2 way fuzzy stars
necklace
ring
hair clip
earrings
sticker

I love the fuzzy, ring and necklace and will use them alot! I don't have anything to match the hairclip, but it's still cute and I like it.
The fuzzy is very well made and I'd say slightly nicer than the similar one I own from Cat Nap Caps. The necklace looks well made too and it's really cute. The ring is a standard cabochon on a ringbase affair, but it's nice because I don't have any candy themed rings yet. The heart clip is a little cheaper feeling than the other items, but still charming enough.
I am disappointed that I received earrings, however. I wish it had been mentioned on the site because not everyone can wear earrings! I have a crippling phobia of pain and I've never been able to get my ears pierced. I will save them aside as a birthday gift for a friend.
My major issue with this pack was the cost of shipping. While I feel my items were worth $10, when you add in the expensive shipping, the pack suddenly feels like a stretch for the value. Even with the actual cost of the shipping and the envelope considered, the $7 or so I paid for the shipping was expensive. It also did not include tracking for that price.
All in all, I'm happy with my pack. A surprise is always fun and I'll be using most of my items.Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-29747963603152354812011-07-13T12:36:00.000-07:002011-07-13T13:44:19.989-07:0070s patternsYes, here is that dolly kei themed post I've been promising.

This now sold out necklace from ShanaLogic is amazing! I would have ordered one, but I was afraid I'd kill it ^^;; *no good with plants* If it comes back in stock, I think it'd be amazing with dolly kei!

I was able to make half price day at the Salvation army today!

Got some fab stuff for my dolly kei wardrobe.

And now the best part...

I GOT ANOTHER FOX HUNT THEMED BLOUSE!

I thought the one I found months ago was a very oddball find...but here is a very similar one! I couldn't beleive it.

Here they are together

I still like my first one more, but this one is amazing too!

Now I want to share my vintage pattern collection with you.

These are all from the 70s, given to me by my mom.

Aren't they amazing? So much cuter than modern designs! I also find them easier to use and of higher quality than modern patterns. I've seen patterns like these often while thrifting so I'm sure you can find some too :)Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-16116509505173252742011-07-11T14:00:00.000-07:002011-07-12T12:18:00.425-07:00My Little Pony FairI'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. I was sick, then I was preparing for My Little Pony Fair.

I'll get back to my regular posting soon, but here is my report on MLP Fair!

Friday was the tour of Hasbro!

Here's my outfit:

Dress: Bodyline
Shirt: Fan+Friend
Socks: Secret Shop
Shoes: Em&Sprout
Accessories: Me, Pretty Pop, Wear it Cuter, Kawaii Goods...

Chillin' with the Transformers

The tour was very nice. We were shown how the commercials are made, the design process for MLP from clay to product, and the design process for the Fair pony. The Hasbro building had toys every where inside! All along window ledges, stuck to walls, etc.
While it was fun and interesting, I don't think I'd need to do it again if the Fair was held in RI again. It was cool, but not worth another extra night in a hotel for. I'd just go for Saturday from now on.

After the tour, we were allowed to shop in the Hasbro toy shop. I was surprised how tiny and no-frills it was. Maybe it's for Hasbro employees to buy toys at? However, everything was more than half price! I got a few G4 and G3.5 MLPs and some LPS/Blythe sets. I forgot to get a pic, but it's not too exciting.

After that, I loitered a bit and watched the vendors set up. While I was doing that, a camera man approached me and asked for an interview. He was fascinated by my outfit lol He said Hasbro hired him and he has no idea what the footage will be used for! It was the highlight of my day, though. You know I love talking about myself lol

Here's my Saturday out fit

Dress: Me! It's MLP fabric if you can't see it :)
Socks: Secret Shop
Shoes: Em&Sprout
Accessories: Pretty Pop, Kawaii Goods, Cat Nap Caps, a friend of mine, vintage MLP...

Alot of people liked it. I was very happy :)

My backpack! I've had it since I was 4 <3 This is the first time I've used it since then. I don't want to break it ^^;

The Fair opened at 9 on Saturday, but we got there at 10. The line for the official merch both was all the way through the room! But before I got on it, I stopped at Anitas_Mom's booth to get a Baby Seapony plushie! I adore her plushie work and as soon as she posted her new Seapony line on the forum, I knew it would be my first purchase at the con! I also got a mini Big Mac plush. He's my fave from FiM :) I then got on the merch line.
While on the line a man I presume was a husband holding a place in the line struck up a conversation with me about the con. It was nice having company waiting on the long line.
The merch booth was sold out of keychains and blind-bag figures!! Boooooo!! But I got a pony, shirt, pin and postcards.

After that, I went to the 'design seminar'. There was an online lottery to choose who would get to attend, so I felt special :3 It was alot of what we heard in the tour but it was nice to sit in comfy chairs :)

Once that was over, I wandered around and pony shopped.

Some cute cosplayers

My friend Dalin from La Vida Frills! Along with Lindsay from Pretty Pop! I'm a huge fan of her stuff and had even commissioned my furry glasses from her! It was so nice to meet her. On the right is Victoria from Lolita Charm! Her fairy kei outfit was excellent.

The only other loli and bjd fan! So funny we had the same dress.

Overview of the room

My haul

And there was a nice icecream social after.

Over all, it was pretty fun, but not quite as fun as an anime con just due to there not being many events. The people were more mature and friendlier than anime people, though! I think if they hold it near enough for me to go again, I'd just do one day. Especially since two days is really hard on my body. I was so sore ):
A note for the disabled: If you are not able to sit on the ground (like myself), you may want to reconsider this event. I hate when people don't give thought to the disabled (it happens so often), so I really want to let people know about this in case.

I didn't have time today to get the vintage pattern post together today, but I hope you might like this instead.

I want to tell you about this great nail polish I found!

I've had difficultly in the past finding nail polish that did not chip on the second day. I finally found this brand in Rite Aid that just happened to have the shade of mint I was looking for. It was only $3, so I thought I'd try it. the brand is called CQ. It's amazing! The color looks fabulous and it hardly chips! I've had it on for about 4 days now and there's only very slight chipping on my right hand (since I use it more). I highly recommend CQ nail polish!

And now, here is a fairy kei tutorial.

I'm sure you've seen the 'remake' tees and hoodies from Spank and Nile Perch. Like these:

(both by Nile Perch)

They are adorable, but a little pricey, right? Especially with shopping service fees! Well, they are just as easy to make as they look! :)

There are two ways to go about it. This first way will look closest to the real Nile Perch stuff.

This is my remake shirt.

1. Get a plain shirt. I actually prefer thrifting them than getting one from the craft stores. The fit, cotton quality, colors, and price usually suit my tastes better. Plus, the money goes to charity!

2. Get something with a cute picture to cut up! The shirts at Nile Perch are made from cutting up character sheets, but you can use kids' tees too. For my Bambi shirt, I used a toddler nightgown!

3. Buy a product called 'Heat and Bond' (I don't know what it's called in other countries or if there are other brands) from the fabric store. It basically turns any fabric into an iron-on patch. Follow the directions on the package 100%! My mom and I made a huge mess on the iron by not paying attention ;_;

4. Iron your new patch on the shirt.

5. Decorate! Go crazy! Fabric paint, bows, buttons, lace! Everything you can find! lol Don't forget, in fairy kei, it's more typical to use cheaper lace, unlike in lolita :)

6. Wear it and feel totally outrageous.

Note: I found the Heat and Bond backing made the patch impossible to sew through. You will have to glue on the embellishments. You will probably want fabric glue.

Here is the other way to make one. This way is good if you can't find something cute to cut up for whatever reason.

That's my art work :)

1. Repeat step one from above, but make sure the tee is a light color!

2. Buy printable transfer paper from the craft OR office store. The only brand that I've found works is Avery. It's worth the extra cost, because it does not crack off in the wash! It also gives the best quality and is easiest to work with.

3. Choose an image from the internet from your favorite 80s series OR use you own art work!

4. Follow all directions on the package iron that sucker on!

5. Decorate as suggested above.

Note: The transfers are easy to sew through!

Have fun! I'd love if you show me what you make!Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-8756567165004340022011-06-21T14:33:00.000-07:002011-06-21T14:54:31.156-07:00A rant about doing what you wantI have some auctions up right now! If you like Pokemon or Digimon, it's the place to be! MLP and Sailor Moon too!

This post applies to my feeling for all styles, not just lolita. Unfortunately, lolita has the most rules, though.
I watch 'lolita tips' on Tumblr, but some times the advice bothers me. I know it;s probably targeted at new lolitas to push the in the right direction, but I think some advice can be misleading.
I believe that people get into alternative fashion because they don't want to listen to what anyone says, because they want to be themselves, so why let people on the internet tell you want to do? One of the tips I saw was about not wearing animal ears. But what if you really like animal ears? What if they make you feel you cute? Isn't the point of lolita to make you feel cute and for you to be happy in your outfit? If you want to wear animal ears, please do!
Another thing that bothered me is 'bad lace'. Yes, cheaper lace does not usually look good on a full dress (though a touch around the skirt bottom is fine by me), but I can't see how on small accessories it should be a problem, especially if it has a pretty design. I hate when people say that you shouldn't use cheaper lace just because it 'looks itchy'. Not everyone has the same skin and it doesn't itch me at all for example.
I especially hate the term 'ita' because it's clearly being used as an insult, a dirty word almost. I think 'lolita cosplayer' is a nicer term. Why insult people just for having fun wearing a dress? How that does that help you? If you want to show them up, then dress better than them and go about your day. I believe some girls just do not want to be 'lolitas' in the same way that real lolitas do. Some girls just want to wear something fun, cute, and cheap to a con and that's fine. I have no problem at all with the cosplay lolitas mainly because they are my top customers when I sell at cons! haha I shamelessly make headdresses and other items targeted at them because it sells very well. I could buy the fancy lace and charge $20 a headdress if I wanted to and only sell to real lolitas, but there are other tables who fill that niche. It makes me feel really good to see girls wear my headdresses around cons :) They looks so cute! So in fact, I rather like cosplay lolitas. They are usually, nice, cute, and keep me in business. they don't hurt or bother real lolitas at all. So please be kind to them :) It's no different than being kind to a cosplayer of an anime character. You may not understand it, but let them have fun.
I don't see much drama in dolly and fairy styles, but the same words go. You still do not need to do what every one else does. For example, I enjoy wearing fairy kei, but don't like the tutus! I don't force myself to wear them just to fit in. Speaking of that, one of the things I like best about fairy style is that no ones yells at you if you use the cheap lace! heehee Do worry about what anyone tells you! If you are not breaking the law, go for it!

Disclaimer: I have been diligently studying lolita style since 2007, I do know what's what despite having an unpopular opinion.

Now for some happy Good Will finds :)

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything dolly kei related recently! Summer just doesn't put me in the mood for that style. I think you dollies might like the vintage pattern post I'm working on.Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-8090276362523567222011-06-18T12:51:00.000-07:002011-06-18T12:51:31.983-07:00All the birds of the air fell a-sighing and a-sobbing"Who killed Cock Robin?" All the birds of the air fell a-sighing and a-sobbing,
When they heard the bell toll for poor Cock Robin.

I'm not sure why this rhyme means so much to me, but I've loved it deeply for many years now.
Alot of lolita blogs ask readers what their dream print would be. I think something related to this rhyme would be mine. ...or a gummy bear print.

Anyway, as you can see, I have a ton of 70s patterns from my mom. They are adorable and so great for fairy OR dolly depending on fabric choice! Maybe I'll make a post showing off my 70s patterns.

I'm also going to make a new fairy kei friendly tutorial soon I think...Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-86380729265425836782011-06-15T12:03:00.000-07:002011-06-15T12:03:44.009-07:00More outfitsI lost a follower on here yesterday and I can't help but feel sad. I hope that if you don't like a certain post, you'll consider sticking around to see if any of my other posts suit your taste more. I admit it is hard to balance a blog where I try to talk about three styles and keep everyone happy. I'm also open to suggestions on improving my blog :)
I'm not a big traveler, so AN is the biggest con I go to all year. It's a big deal and so exciting.

Even though this is a fashion blog, I hope you won't mind if if I show my cosplay!

I'm Saint Tail! It's a 90s magical girl series. I like 90s anime best :)

And this is my outfit for the official lolita tea part on Saturday:

That's my first brand dress! Innocent World's Classical Chairs. I love it so much. I got the long length.
BTW, I know it looks like I don't smile in pics, but I honestly think I'm smiling when the pic is being taken. I'm trying hard to learn to force myself.

Here is my review of the lolita tea party:

Even though the schedule said panel room 1, we were told to go to down a long hallway into a hotel room suite. Only lolis were allowed in. It was like some exclusive loli club. Inside, besides the lolis, were Sakurai-san (a man who writes books about lolita in Japan), his translator, and Kanon aka The Prince from the band An Cafe. Prince was soooooo precious!! He had on his little mini hat and shorts and was arranging the chairs for us! He was such a gentleman and so adorable. He made me feel like we were princesses. We were given free tea and cupcakes and left to talk amongst ourselves for a while. Then Sakurai-san asked us some questions through is translator. Such as, how often we wear lolita, if it's hard wearing lolita in NJ/NY, if we feel like princesses, etc. He was very surprised that there were so many lolitas in NJ! He thought there wasn't enough cakes for us all, but I think some girls didn't eat, because I was able to get 2 cakes and there were still left overs (the cakes were my whole lunch lol). Some of the lolis and I agreed that the plan must be to get our faces full of frosting, then get pictures of us looking silly, because picture time was after the cake lol We were told our photos may be going in a magazine or book in Japan. First, they got single pics of each of us. Then a group pic (I'm in the back *sob* If it's in a magazine, you'll never see me). During the group pic, Kera model Yu Kimura came in! We all clapped and cheered and she got in the pic too. She's soooo cute and tiny, just like a doll. And last, we got individual pics with The Prince and Sakurai. I wasn't done with my cupcake so I stuffed it in my unicorn purse lol Yup, there was half a cupcake in my unicorn.
It was such an amazing experience. It felt like a dream. Being in a hotel room with Japanese celebrities... It was very surreal. It was worth the price of my badge for that party alone! I'll keep you updated if I find anything out about the book/magazine.
I would've taken more pics, but I thought at first it was allowed (the atmosphere was so exclusive... heehee)

(if you are in this picture and don't want to be, tell me and I can blot out your face)

I also watched the h.Naoto Sixh fashion show. It was interesting, but the style wasn't for me. If you are into dubbed anime, you might find it funny that Vic Mingona was one of the models!

I did shop at the h.Naoto booth and got a cute lolita tank top!

My entire review and all picture from the con can be found here.

Hope you all had a good weekend too!Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-80991212693566005612011-06-06T15:32:00.000-07:002011-06-06T15:35:49.056-07:00Two reviews from me to you~
(some of my dolls sharing a secret<3)

Sometimes, I feel silly dressing up in a town were every else looks like a slob and no one will ever understand what I'm doing. But then I remind myself that I'm not doing this for those losers, I'm doing it to reflect how I feel the inside; to make my self confident and happy.

Something exciting has happened! I've bought my first brand lolita JSK! It'll be here in a few days X3 It'll be a surprise till then~

Anime Next is this weekend! I'm debating whether to go to the official lolita tea party or just cosplay...

I bough a Monster High skirt from Justice and just had to show it off ;0; I love it so much! It's got built in shorts so you don't flash anyone heehee I find that clever. As a tall girl, I have to worry about my short skirts some times. My only quibble is that the shorts feel sort of like a swimsuit. Even though Justice carries girl's sizes, I got the 18 and it's perfect (my wast is 71cm).

And now I would like to review the blouse I am wearing in the picture!

Site: http://www.etsy.com/shop/CyanideSweetheart
(On vacation this month.)

Payment method: Paypal (as always with Etsy)

Shipping: USPS from California (Purchased May 28, arrived June 06)

Overall: 10/10

Website: 10/10 Etsy is great.

Items: 10/10

Shipping: 9/10 (felt a little slow, did not share tracking number)

The print is bold and clear and very professional. The sizing on the item page is so-so. I order medium but I think a large would've been better. It's tight on my shoulders. Over all, very cute. I plan it wear it with lolita skirts to make a casual punk outfit.

And I also have a review of We Love Colors tights!
One of the things I want to do in this blog is present things from the point of view of a taller girl, in order to other tall girls pick clothes that fit :)
First of all, I was a little disappointed with the making time. I ordered an out of stock pair and it took a month to make. I was starting to worry. Keep that in mind if you want an out of stock item. Once the item was shipped, it came very fast. If you only order one pair, I wouldn't recommended to upgrade to priority because standard was very fast. I ordered Pastel Mint and the color is very true. I am 5'7 (170cm) and I ordered the tall size. It's wonderful! I don't need to stretch the tights at all! Very true fit. Overall, these tights are perfect.Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-59405850148492386082011-05-31T15:46:00.000-07:002011-05-31T16:00:17.266-07:00The lonely girlSometimes it's very hard to be a lolita in a place where the very few others have no interest in making friends or meeting up. There's a lolita from my area that shows up on Tumblr or other blogs sometimes. It's painful whenever I see her show up. I've met her twice but she has no interest in being friends. It makes me very sad because I love nothing more than making friends and spending time with people with similar interests.
If you are a lolita in an area where you can have meet ups, please treasure it. I wish so badly I could go to meetups of any sort, whether for fashion, dolls, anime... I know most people assume that every area has meet ups, but it's absolutely not the case!

In case you haven't noticed, unlike other J-fashion blogs, this one won't be able to give too much uplifting advice. I struggle with things too and don't have many answers. Buuuuut I guess I can be here to sympathize if you have fashion related problems in your life too :)

The weather's turned now and going outside has become impossible. Dressing up will be harder now too. I would've liked to put together a more elaborate outfit to hang out with my friends today, but unfortunately, I had to make sure to dress lightly. Even though stores have AC, one stills needs to be careful walking from the car to the building, right?

So I tried my best to accessorize this cute 80s dress :)
The necklaces are pony brushes I decorated! I have spares that I'm selling for $5 plus shipping so let me know if you'd like one :)

While I was out, I went back to Goodwill and they still had the Barbie sheets I wanted!

I'm so excited to try to make a dress just like the ones at Spank!Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-24790893992944014862011-05-29T14:53:00.000-07:002011-06-06T14:53:57.751-07:00Dream lolita itemsFirst of all, if you liked the unicorn backpack I got off ebay, there is another one up for bid! Cheaper than I got mine too!

I would also like to remind everyone about my Tumblr :) It's mostly fairy kei.

Even though I don't buy much brand, I still have a wishlist! I'm still new to wearing lolita (even though i've been learning about it since 2007) so hopefully as I grow into a more experienced lolita I'll begin to buy more brand.

Here are my most wanted lolita items:

3.

Baby- Wizard of Oz jsk in Navy. (i'd do with white or black though)
I really love the simple and cute appliques! Even though this is my 3rd wanted item, I'd like to try to save up for it before the others since it doesn't seem incredibly popular.

2.

Innocent World- Gertrude skirt in Navy
Normally I'd buy the replica but they didn't make navy ): The color just looks amazing with the Cinderella theme.

1.

Twinkle Journey OP any color
You know how much I love ponies! Honestly, unless a replica comes out, I don't think I could ever save enough for this. Maybe the skirt...

There's another item I really want... In the 1st English GLB they showed a picture of a hoodie by MAM with devil ears and tail! ;o; I've wanted it so bad for years now! I can't find a pic online orz

I also want so many Putumayo cutsews, it's not even worth listing!Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-56529149215191660762011-05-28T08:16:00.000-07:002011-05-29T12:09:04.537-07:00Lolita wrist cuff tutorialNote: This tutorial assumes you have sewn before.

You need:
Fabric
Elastic
Ribbon
Charms

1. Cut a strip of fabric a foot and 3 inches long. I hesitate to tell you how wide because you might have a different preference. The white and blue cuff was cut 3 in. wide, so use that as a guide line.

2. Hem the long edges. My machines has the decorative stitch function so I recomend that if you have it.

3. Choose a wide ribbon that compliments your cuff. Cut it the same length as your cuff and pin it to the center. Sew it along both edges of the ribbon (NOT down the center of the ribbon!)

4. Grab some elastic and pull it through in between the ribbon and cuff (I'm assuming you know how to do this using safety pins. I can try to explain if you ask)

5. Gather the elastic to fit your wrist. The will make your cuff bunch up and look frilly.

6. Sew the two short edges together, right sides facing. Take care to keep you elastic secured so it does not dissapear into the cuff!

7. Turn cuff right side out.

8. Choose ribbon to make a bow and a charm and hand sew them on. You're done!

There are other wrist cuff tutorials online so if this dose not work for you feel free to use another one. If you have any questions, leave a comment!

I'm not sure if you know, but I also have a craft blog . If you look a few pages back, I have a tutorial for making lolita/dolly kei/punk ties!Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-37115353526004832952011-05-26T13:07:00.000-07:002011-05-26T14:42:28.984-07:00Wrist cuffsI decided to teach myself how to make wrist cuffs. A tried a very casual dolly outfit today. I don't feel comfortable yet wearing a full out dolly outfit in public in my area yet. I still need to work up to it! I was going to wear a more dolly skirt but I really liked how this one looked (I already had it on when I put on my blouse). It was unflatteringly flat so I put a Bodyline petti under it. The blouse is my fox hunt pattern one I showed you in a previous post.

My tights are Celeste Stein! I got them from Ebay since the shipping on the CS site is god awful expensive. A guy walking with what looked like his girlfriend said to her that liked my tights! Wonder how she felt about that lol
As a side note, as I’ve mentioned, I’m 5’7. As such it can be hard to find tights that reach to where they are supossed to on me. I have two pairs of CS tights and they both are long enough, but just barely. I think if you are over 5’8, they won’t work for you. Also, I take a US size 6 in pants and these tights do not squeeze my waist; they are loose and comfy.

This is my necklace. I bought it in Canada last year. I has a real scorpian inside. <3

I decorated the tail I bought on Saturday! The charm is a cuckoo clock.

And on the fairy/lolita side of my world, my unicorn backpack came from Ebay! It's by Aurora who generally makes great plushies and plush backpacks/purses. It's so roomy inside! I'm in love. I can't wait to use it!

I've edited the last post with an outfit rundown, btw :)Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-15911816787214928402011-05-22T13:35:00.000-07:002011-05-23T14:29:36.138-07:00Steampunk World's FairYesterday, I went to Steampunk World's Fair in NJ.

It was a great experience. The outfits were amazing! It really was like visitin another world. Unlike anime cons and ren faires where the majority of costumes look a little lame or poor constructed, nearly everyone at this place just looked amazing. So dapper and elegant. I wish it were possible to have a convention like this for lolita fashion!

I wish I had taken pics of some of the amazing outfits for you, but I was so overwhelmed! If I took a pic of everyone I thought was cool, I would have 100s of pics!

However, here are the dandies from the Look at that Dandy panel :)
Whoo! I'm mostly going to see all the outfits :)

Remember or friend with the ballet slippers from my Dolly Boys post? He's back with a new outfit :) Personally, i like the first outfit better.

On the lolita front, Putumayo has put out this fantastic new dress!

I love both Gray and Blue! I want this so badly right now! It's my new dream dress haha. Putumayo stuff is the perfect mix of cute and fun.

I don't have as many Fairy outfit snaps saved as Dolly so what I'm going to do is also post some of my favorite Fairy pieces and generally inspirational pics as well.

This outfit is perfect. I'm not much into the type of faiy kei that uses tutus, I'm much more interested in outfits like this one. My favorite items from Spank are their MLP dresses! This girl really wears it well. Look at her pony bag and pigtails! This is how I want to look when I do fairy.

Here is a close up of one of their MLP dresses! I'm planning to make myself an MLP dress to wear to MLP Fair this July. I won't be using a vintage sheet, though! Just the current MLP fabric that's for sale in the craft stores :)

I love the colorful blanket as a shawl. The colors are great in this one.

Pigtails :) I'm also a sucker for character tees.

This is actually a sales photo from Taiwanese brand Refuse to be Usual, but I really like some of the outfits they put together. I have two 2nd hand RTBU items (nothing from this pic, though) and they are great quality!

Really cute, well put together outfits. I'm so mad I didn't buy that Barbie sheet myself when I saw it at Goodwill ):

I want to share my favorite dolly kei outfits, the ones that inspire me.

This one's all about the hat.
I adore that apron. i really want to make a similar one.

This girl absolutely reminds me of a sweet little doll. Definitely the feel I want to get from Dolly!

I actually like shorter skirts, so this looks very comfortable to me.

More on the Cult Party side, but I like how it's still a 'darker' look than typical cult party, like a happy medium between that and Dolly.

Insanely adorable. That floppy bow! Killer.

When I want to dress dolly, these are the pictures I look to <3

Edit:
I was just on the Mad Tea Party blog, and found this cute guy:
I'm surprised the Dolly kei Tumblrs don't post more from Mad Tea Party. This is the purse I've been working on! As you can see it's rather huge <3 I'm really proud of it. The patter is from the book 'GothLoli Komono wo Tezukurishimasho'.

Today's outfit! Super casual for a trip to the Asian market. I was only out with my parents, not my friends, so I wanted to keep it toned down. My friends give me my strength to be different!
I carried my deer purse from the previous post with this :D

Blouse: Fan+Friend
Skirt: Dollscrops
Socks: Secret Shop
Necklace: Zambi Kandi on Etsy

I don't want to do a full review on F+F because I ordered from them a year ago (last May), but I really want to tell everyone how crappy they are. Every single freaking button on this blouse came loose and had to be resewn! That is unacceptable. I've never had such poor quality from Bodyline or Taobao. Also, the measurements page on their site is wrong. It says to not add on to your body measurement when choosing your clothing size. So I order this blouse exactly for my body size and it was much too small! My mom had to let it out for me and it's still not comfortable. I don't want anyone to deal with this company who can't even write a correct sizing page and has horrible quality! Buy from anyone else. If you must buy from them, add quite a bit to your body measurement!! Buy two sizes up from what they suggest.Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-72193925808144693392011-05-14T16:56:00.000-07:002011-05-14T17:38:04.214-07:00Taobao Now reviewI'm making myself a purse right now and it is so awesome that I can't wait to finish it just to share X3 I love making myself lolita purses!

I have some Ebay auctions up right now including MLP and Sailor Moon! Take a look!
I wrote this a while ago but I'm only posting it here now. I wanted to post it two days ago but Blogger was down! Booooo!

Taobao Now service review and Taobao product review:

Website: http://www.taobaonow.com/

How many times have I purchased? 1.5 (I'm in the middle of a new order with them right now. Sugary Carnival replica teehee)

Payment method: Credit card

Shipping: USPS (I used Airmail)

Overall: 10/10

Website: 9/10 Very easy! But does not take paypal ):

Items: 8/10 (they are a shopping service so it's not their fault)

Shipping: 10/10

Communication: 10/10

I highly recomend Taobaonow as a Taobao agent! It's very easy to use and they comunicate so fast! I never felt confused or worried about my order. Everything was so smooth! I will use them for Taobao from now on.
However, they do not take paypal which I find very frustrating (I use my bank card to pay and my bank charges extra for overseas payments ):)

Items:

1. Lace Story deer purse

The fur is heavenly! I want to pet it forever!
The inner pouch is big enough for a cell or cash. Not even both! I feel like taking some of the stuffing out to get more room.
There was no way I could find to attach the optional shoulder strap. I finally had to sew it on. It was very odd.
Also, there was dirt on two of the white hearts. Very gross.

Overall, I adore this bag and would still have bought it even if I knew the flaws. They are not a huge deal to me.

8/10

2. Kids Yoyo bear hoodie

The quality leaves nothing to be desired. It's warmer than I expected for a hoodie. I'd say you should be good in 45-60F weather.
However! This was a custom size item and they made it too small ): I can't button it bellow my bust. I don't understand why this happened since I was sure of the sizes I gave them. The mistake was definitely not on my end.

Worn:

9/10 (would be 10 if size was correct)

3. Dream of Lolita IW replica carousel jsk

I was skeptical of DoL, but the quality is amazing! The fabric is so soft. The print is clear and beautiful. This dress is flawless!
I ordered the M and find it very true to size.

As you see, at the seam the print is matched up! So nice!

Lining. Not very exciting, gets the job done.

I love this dress so much! Probably my fave lolita JSK that i own.

Worn:

10/10

Overall, I recommend Taobao Now. They are the only Taobao agent I've used because they are so good. Dream of Lolita is amazing, but Lace Story and Kids Yoyo could improve. Perhaps when placing a KY order, you should add to your measurements.Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-74418853071161049862011-05-11T14:15:00.000-07:002011-05-13T13:52:13.234-07:00Dolly time!Since I shared my favorite fairy piece a few posts ago, today I want to share my fave dolly piece!

From the Salvation Army. I think it was $2. I adore this blouse so much! It's the blouse I compare all other against haha It's just so bizarre and awesome. I mean, a fox hunt all over a ladies' blouse? Just too cool. It fits me perfectly too. Had I been any wider, this would not work XD I really like form fitting clothes (they give me less of a stick-figure like appearance), so this is perfect for me.
I wore this all the time last winter <3

Here's the most elaborate dolly oufit I've put together. I wore it Non Con '11 last February. On day I want to wear dolly, I usually just go really casual so this was a ton of fun.Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-33354670678042319192011-05-10T09:31:00.000-07:002011-05-10T09:31:08.870-07:00IntroI've been putting this off for too long.
Internet name: Sora
Age: 22
Location: Hudson Valley, NY (the place were even the lolitas and BJD fans keep to themselves! No fun to be had out here)
Height: 5'7
Weight: 115 (if you are as tall as I am, don't try this at home, kids)
Relationship: Searching for the prince <3
Styles: Fairy, lolita, dolly
Fave brands: Putumayo, Innocent World, Nile Perch, certain Etsy shops
Favorite color: Purple
Likes: J-fashion, anime, dolls, anything '80s, cats, fairy tales/fantasy
Fun fact: I dislike pink!
Dream: Visit Japan.
Personal motto: No matter what you are doing, pretend it's perfectly normal.

I've been interested in lolita since 2007, but only started dressing it in 2010. I began dressing dolly and fairy in 2011.

Even though I run a blog where I share pics of myself alot, I'm actually very self conscious. I've never even been asked out, so I feel like I must be terribly ugly. It's very difficult for me to get past that. I hope someday, my prince shows up to save me from myself <3

Anything else you want to know? Ask me! I'm not terribly private.Sorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08264936571247875485noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1521419509125647433.post-63373394697919491662011-05-09T17:16:00.000-07:002011-05-09T17:16:42.370-07:00Dolly kei boys

While I think kodona is absoluetly the hottest thing a person can wear, I also really adore dolly/cult party style on guys!
(as a side note, you can't know how much I wish to be the girl in that picture)

I am in love with this picture. I want to fly to Japan and track this man down. He is clearly the man of my dreams. He reminds me of a wizard in a fairy story. The mysterious young wizard who lives in that little house in the woods <3<3 I keep wanting to print out his picture and tape it to my mirror~
I like these boys outfits too. Even though they don't have a wizard feel.

The guys at Mad Tea Party are quite dapper~
